The Ongoing Renovation Work

12P Permaculture Design Director Alfred Decker is thrilled to announce the launch of the Permaculture Barcelona Hub, a dedicated space for learning, designing, and living in deeper relationship with the natural world…within an urban and social context. Alfred signed a lease for the space in January, 2026, and is now busy renovating it and developing a program of trainings and gatherings (click HERE).

The video above and the photos below show the renovation work as of mid-February. The Hub will provide a much-need space for skill-sharing, networking, and regenerative design in a vibrant part of Barcelona.

What is Going Into the Development of the Hub?

To launch the Hub, we need to:

– Furnish and equip the classroom, dining room and entrance (chairs; couches; projector & screen; sound system; camera and microphone for live-streamed sessions; desks; tables; wall clock; printer; irrigation system for plants; cushions;  curtains; lights, lamps and switches; ventilation fans; whiteboard/poster-holder and blackboard)

– Divide the big bathroom into two bathrooms in order to meet human needs when we have large events; install extra sink, mirror, lights, cabinets and eco-urinals 🙂

– Equip the kitchen and pantry (dish washer; large pots & pans; plates & bowls; silverware; knife set; serving trays; 3 thermos for tea, coffee and hot water; large coffeemaker; blender; dish washer; refrigerator; food storage; etc.)

– Furnish two guest bedrooms with doors; beds; dressers; ventilation fans; lighting; and sheets, blankets and pillows. Change the distribution and access with drywall and new doors

– Redo and install new electrical wiring and breakers; fix plumbing; and paint all spaces

– Clothes washer

– Entrance: doors and insulation; door locks; coat hangers

– Build storage areas and moveable space dividers

– Install 50m2 of parquet, and 80m of baseboards

– Bureaucracy and accounting costs!

– Remembering to enjoy the process! :-0
